Championing Change: Reflections on Our Kerning the Gap Workshop

Recently, our studio had the privilege of hosting Nat Maher, founder of Kerning the Gap, for a workshop focused on gender equality and leadership in the creative industries. The session created a safe and open space for our team to explore topics that are often sensitive, prompting reflection, dialogue, and practical thinking about how we can create a more inclusive workplace.

The workshop highlighted the importance of actively questioning assumptions, understanding workplace dynamics, and exploring how culture, policies, and everyday actions influence who gets to lead and thrive. While Nat provided invaluable insight and guidance, the true takeaway was the way our team engaged with these ideas, and how we can apply them within our studio.

The Kerning the Gap Workshop

Taking Action on Inclusivity

At Rigby & Rigby, inclusivity isn’t just a value, it’s a responsibility. The workshop reinforced how essential it is to create an environment where everyone can contribute, grow, and feel supported. For us, that means:

  • Fostering open, honest conversations across teams and roles
  • Ensuring fair and transparent processes for recruitment and development
  • Investing in our people and creating clear pathways to leadership
  • Supporting one another in practical, meaningful ways every day

Workshops like Nat’s give us the space to pause, reflect, and act, helping us move from awareness to tangible change.

Building a Culture of Change

The session reminded us that small, everyday actions, when combined with intentional policies and active allyship, can make a big difference. By staying curious, listening to diverse perspectives, and challenging the status quo, we are actively shaping a workplace where everyone can thrive.

Nat’s workshop was an important step in that journey, sparking conversations and inspiring ideas that will continue to influence how we operate, lead, and support each other.

If you’re interested in exploring gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace, or think this workshop could benefit your team, we encourage you to reach out to Nat Maher at Kerning the Gap and join the conversation.
