A Showcase of Sustainable Luxury: Rigby & Rigby’s Elegantly Designed Postcards
At the intersection of luxury and innovation, Rigby & Rigby has once again demonstrated its commitment to exquisite design with a new series of sustainably crafted postcards. Collaborating with partners such as Fedrigoni, FoilCo, and Identity Print, these postcards are not only visually stunning but also environmentally conscience at the heart of their conception.
The Art of Paper Selection
The foundation of these postcards lies in the carefully selected Fedrigoni paper stock. Whilst the Arena Extra White offers a flawlessly smooth surface for printing high-quality photography, the Siria Perla has a sophisticated pearlescent finish, providing a perfect backing to the postcard. Both papers are made from FSC-certified fibers, ensuring that the paper is sourced from well-managed forest, as well as being Acid Free, Elemental Chlorine Free and Heavy Metal absent, ensuring no harmful toxins are contained within the paper. On top of this, Fedrigoni are constantly developing their processes as a manufacturer and distributor, to become more environmentally friendly. Currently they adhere to 12 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development goals, with ambitions to improve their standards drastically by 2030.
The Finishing Touch
To elevate the design, these postcards have been finished with FoilCo’s Gun Metal foil. Contrary to many misconceptions, foil is in actuality a very sustainable product. Once transferred onto a recyclable product (such as paper), foil is so thin, that it dissipates within the re-pulping process, making foil a recyclable product. On top of this, FoilCo use a specialist waste management company that helps support printers to recover their foil waste and convert it to SRF - a higher quality and more environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuel. They are the first foil company to be certified as ZeroFoil2Landfill compliant – A scheme backed by the BP. And they are 100% vegan-friendly products.
Print for good
A special thank you to Identity Print collaborating with Rigby & Rigby to design and manufacture these postcards. Not only did they take great care in producing these, but that have also pledged to fund the planting and care of a tree by the World Land Trust to help fight climate change.
Designed to last
Whilst paper is a fundamentally sustainable product made from natural materials that can be easily recycled and re-purposed, these postcards were thoughtfully designed to last. More than a marketing tool, they are miniature works of art and intended as a keepsake. The Fedrigoni paper has been duplexed - a process of bonding two papers together to form a thicker card - to add structural durability as well as a delightfully tactile quality. On top of this, both papers have long-life certifications, meaning they will retain their premium quality for longer than the average paper.
We are extremely proud of the thought and effort that has gone into these postcards, and we look forward to distributing them to our future clients.
