PAD London 2019: Studio Selection

Located in the heart of bustling Berkeley Square in Mayfair, PAD is one of London’s leading fairs. Since its conception in 2007, PAD London has evolved beyond how it set out as a space for ‘post-war and contemporary design and decorative arts’. Today, the showcase has an abundance of collectable 20th century and mid-century design, glass and ceramics, alongside a substantial collection of jewellery. Collectors and guests are invited to experience 68 galleries in total from 14 different countries.Below is a brief selection from the Rigby & Rigby Studio of this year’s PAD London event, which ended yesterday (6th October).Maria Wettergren Gallery, Cecile Bendixen, Sun Disc, Misty Sun, 2019Labelled, Phenomena, it belongs to an exhibition of textile sculptures by the contemporary artist and architect, Cecilie Bendixen. Ever inspired by elements of the natural world, Fish’s Ethereal Series mimics the delicacy of leaf structures with their complicated system of midribs and veins. The structure of these pieces has ribbon-like delicacies that contrast the structural appearance of them. Fish’s masterful composition creates the illusion of sloping surface despite being perfectly level.
