Project 089 Sets a New Global Benchmark with WELL Platinum Accreditation

The World’s First WELL Platinum Private Family Residence
We are proud to announce that Project 089 in central London has achieved WELL Platinum accreditation, becoming the first private family residence in the world to attain this prestigious standard. This landmark achievement places the project firmly at the forefront of global residential design and represents one of the highest accolades possible within the international wellness and built environment community.
WELL Platinum is widely recognised as the most rigorous and respected wellbeing certification globally, setting an exceptional benchmark for how buildings can actively support human health. To achieve this level within a private home rather than a commercial environment marks a defining moment not only for the project, but for the future of residential architecture worldwide.

Wellness Designed from the Inside Out
Achieving WELL Platinum at Project 089 has been a deeply considered, holistic and highly collaborative process, guided by a single belief: a home should actively enhance the lives of the family who live within it.
Unlike commercial projects, a private family residence must respond to a wide spectrum of daily rhythms from rest and retreat to gathering, play and celebration. Each WELL category was therefore interpreted specifically through the lens of family life, ensuring that wellbeing is not a feature, but an intrinsic quality of the home.
A People-First, Wellness-Led Design Philosophy
Led by Mark Cowley, Studio Director of Architecture, Project 089 WELL certification is the culmination of years of dedication, research and innovation across the studio and our ESG Lab. Every aspect of the home has been meticulously designed to support physical health, mental wellbeing and long-term comfort while remaining intuitive, elegant and effortless to live in.
Air and water form the invisible foundations of wellbeing. Advanced filtration, purification and continuous monitoring systems ensure exceptional indoor air quality at all times, while water systems deliver safe, clean and great tasting water throughout the home.
“The most important wellness features are the ones you never notice,” explains Mark Cowley.
“If you’re not thinking about air quality or water safety, it means the building is doing its job.”
Light has been carefully modelled to support natural circadian rhythms energising mornings, balanced daylight throughout the day, and calming evening environments that promote restorative sleep for all ages.

Architecture That Encourages Movement, Comfort and Calm
Movement and comfort are embedded directly into the architecture. The spatial layout encourages natural movement and connection to outdoor spaces, while adaptive thermal systems allow individual control recognising that comfort is deeply personal within a family home.
Sound and materials were treated with exceptional precision. Acoustic zoning enables vibrant family spaces to coexist with quiet, restorative areas, while material selections prioritise low toxicity finishes, tactile richness and long-term sustainability.
“Delivering this level of wellness required absolute attention to detail on site,” says Leroy Smith, Project Manager.
“Every system had to perform perfectly while remaining invisible. It’s one of the most carefully coordinated homes I’ve ever delivered.”
At its heart, the project also places strong emphasis on mental wellbeing. Biophilic design, access to nature, restorative spaces and moments of calm are woven throughout the home, reinforcing the idea that wellness is experienced emotionally as well as physically.
“Wellness isn’t an add on it’s a design philosophy,” reflects Iain Johnson, CEO.
“If we truly understand the impact buildings have on people, then designing for wellbeing becomes a responsibility, not a choice.”

A Global First. A New Benchmark for Residential Living
Project 089 now stands as a true global benchmark for private residential design, demonstrating how rigorous wellness standards, thoughtful architecture and human centred design can come together to create homes that genuinely enhance quality of life.
This achievement is the result of years of collaboration, testing and shared belief across development management, architecture, interiors, sustainability and construction teams. As we move into 2026, Project 089 stands not only as a world first WELL Platinum family home, but as a powerful statement of what the future of residential living can and should be.
