Charlotte Pires
Architect

Charlotte approaches architecture with a thoughtful, user-focused mindset shaped by six years of experience across community-led, arts and heritage, and high-end residential projects. Based in London, she brings a unique blend of technical precision and artistic sensibility to her work; an approach that is rooted in a strong academic foundation and a passion for designing spaces that elevate everyday experience.

Academically, Charlotte completed her MArch with First Class Honours at the University of Bath through the Level 7 Apprenticeship route while working at Childs Sulzmann Architects. Her thesis explored the role of scent in architecture, culminating in the design of a natural perfumery in Cádiz that reconnected the city with its olfactory heritage.

Professionally, Charlotte has contributed to a wide range of projects at all RIBA stages, from the restoration of listed civic buildings to contemporary residential schemes. Her experience spans practices of varying scale, including Stride Treglown and BBA Architects, where she developed a deep understanding of heritage-led design and sustainable construction. Now part of the Rigby & Rigby team, Charlotte is broadening her expertise in luxury residential design, working directly with end users and engaging with complex planning and project delivery processes.

With a strong eye for detail and a collaborative, considered approach, Charlotte is committed to delivering architecture that is not only beautiful and functional but meaningfully rooted in its context.

Rigby & Rigby have achieved a significant planning success in Chelsea, securing consent for the reinstatement of an historic Victorian terrace through the meticulous rebuilding of two townhouses. Designed to reintroduce the area’s 19th-century charm, the project restores the original architectural rhythm and character that once defined this quintessential London street.

Guided by heritage sensitivity and design excellence, Rigby & Rigby’s Architecture team worked closely with the planning authority and local stakeholders to ensure that every detail complemented the conservation area’s historic fabric. The proposal carefully balances authenticity with contemporary standards of sustainability, incorporating discreet modern technologies such as photovoltaic panels and rainwater harvesting.

This thoughtful restoration gives back to the streetscape, enhancing its coherence, heritage value, and timeless appeal while demonstrating Rigby & Rigby’s expertise in navigating complex planning processes and delivering architecture that seamlessly unites history, craftsmanship, and innovation.
