Nestled in the Warwickshire countryside’s greenbelt, our clients envisioned a home that matched the beauty of its surroundings. The current property, a 1960s bungalow with deteriorating flat roofs, falls short of its potential.
Securing planning permission was challenging due to the greenbelt restrictions, as the council initially only permitted a minor increase in the property's footprint—far from meeting our clients' needs. However, Rigby and Rigby successfully navigated the planning complexities, including a successful appeal, to secure multiple permitted development extensions that significantly expanded the home.
With approval in hand, we proposed a mansion of the same size as the permitted design but with a more refined aesthetic, addressing the previous scheme’s lack of visual appeal. The project involves retaining the 20th-century bungalow while recladding, extending, and refurbishing it into a sustainable, energy-efficient residence for a growing family. The client chose a neo-classical design, aligning with the estate’s historical character, over a contemporary alternative.
Featured in PrimeResi (add link?), the property will include an indoor pool, gym, ballroom, cinema, and ten bedrooms, alongside extensive family and entertainment spaces. The exterior design features pot balusters, Tuscan columns, natural stone architraves, and quoining, creating a timeless and elegant look.
